BROCKHAMPTON Can’t Play Splendour in the Grass, but that’s OK.

I can’t really imagine any other band who I’d be more excited to see on the 2018 Splendour in the Grass bill than Brockhampton. But it’s impossible. Splendour runs from the 20th to the 22nd of July, and Brockhampton have already been booked to play the Capitol Hill Block Party in Seattle. I read a few articles months ago with predictions that they’d be playing, but you can kiss that goodbye.

But it’s OK. We don’t need Brockhampton to play one of Australia’s biggest festivals. But I’ve had a think about who else might be on the bill that is announced next week on 11 April. I have a feeling Jack White might make an appearance in Australia with the release of his obscure but incredible third album, Boarding House Reach. That’d hit the spot nicely in the Splendour amphitheater. But could you imagine Migos? I could. Hell I didn’t think Stormzy would be on the list last year let alone pack out his tent. Migos would scratch that itch that Lil Yachty did in 2017s Splendour as well, blasting their threesome-trap across the fields.

There’s got to be a few big heavy weights to hold up the lineup, but I just can’t put my finger on it yet. Splendour have had the Strokes, the Cure, LCD Soundsystem and Queens of the Stone Age in the past couple years. Who is on par to rival those world renowned names? I guess we’ll have to wait until next Wednesday.

I’ll either be happy or pissed off. But I’m already a little dissapointed that I won’t be seeing my favourite boy band in Byron Bay.
